Bridie
Granddad and Grandma walked down the garden path to the gate it opened as they reached it, there was the seat just glowing there on the left side so they sat and looked around there was a beautiful young girl practicing ballet, they said hello to her. She paused in her movements and sent them a glow of love and hello.
I am Bridie she told them, and I am learning ballet as my teacher use to do in the before times.
Bridie was an Irish name, but said she hadn't lived there, but some of her family had, but that was a long time before.
Their mother married into money as they called it, and Bridie was then sent away to boarding school.
I missed them, especially my baby sister, she was never sent away, as she became very ill, and left the family to come over here.
Then I grew ill with the same thing, I missed them so much when I came over here
This is where I met Sadie, and now I am alright, sometimes my sister comes to play and we talk about lots of things, and most times have a lovely day just being together.
Sadie taught me how to visit with my parents this I learned very quickly, so sometimes I would go to them and just watch them at their daily tasks
Bridie was complaining that she couldn't do her dancing right, but was laughing and sending out little waves of colour.
Things Grandma remember from the ballet she had seen, made it seem that Bridie was getting her hands all wrong, Grandma recalled from years before while watching her Sister dance that her instructor had told her to think of it as if holding a pencil in your hand and to point your hand with gentleness.
Bridie said that she wanted to practice just for her teacher, to show her that she could do it.
So even though I am here, I will still try just for her, as she was a lovely person to me.
Bridie said that her teacher would always say.
You have to do it properly, as it is English Ballet and must be carried out correctly.
We sat and watched as Bridie carried on with her movements.
Grandma said to her, try to hold a pencil in your hand, a pretend one, to make the movement.
Bridie tried, and let out such a squeal of colours, of "that's it" "I have done it".
"That's better I've done it, I've done the ballet move, I am ever so pleased "Thank you".
The colours faded a little, and Bridie said that she would go and join the others.
There's going to be a big march today with all the colours flying, more like a party.
I think that I will march as it is, a together, together, thing, all of us have our own groups, as to what level of learning we have reached.
Then in each group, each child has their own coloured flag to march.
The colour is to show how far you have gone in your learning it's so much fun for us.
We move from one group to the other, as our learning is done.
Where are you going to march? I asked her.
We are going to march around here singing our songs, and show that we are progressing.
We will be with our teachers, it will be a lovely march
The colours are very important to us, when we pass and go on to another level of learning, the classes they change also.
It is most important that we learn thing the right way, we go to school, college or to the Lyceum.
Going from one level to another we have different colours and then colours within colours, we have more colours than you are use to, if you are here when we march you will see.
They are very different to the ones you have on the material level.
I have to go now, I will see you soon and Bridie was off with a little puff of rainbows thrown our way.
We stayed a little longer and watched her as she joined the other children, there they were all buzzing with colour.
There was a great lifting of energy, as they all started to sing and wave their colours and Bridie was right, the colours were so beautiful, they surpassed any colours we were use to and they seemed to have a life of their own, skipping around the children then drifting into the air, not unlike soap bubbles, blown with a gentleness of a young child.
Settling down all around them, it just felt like someone had thrown a lot of love over them, it made them both glow.
Granddad and Grandma decided to let the children enjoy their new status, and they wandered out over the bridge to home once more, as the garden gate closed behind them.
